So, pro tip.... Buy the car with the engine that fits inside it, not the one that has an enormous engine shoehorned inside to the point that you can't even service it. Yes, Mercedes built it. Doesn't matter. One look inside that engine bay and you should have run away screaming.

This is why they are so cheap used. You never want these cars past the warranty. I got a 2004 Jaguar XJ Van den Plas (92k) in 2009 for 14k with 62k on speedo. 9 months later totaled car in a downpour hydroplaning off the road. Owed 12k and insurance paid 16.3k so I made 4k and didn't find out if it needed any repairs later on. For 9 months I had no problems. As you know the fun is gambling on if it's a $ pit or not. Love your videos and Jeep.

Also do not remove the abc system & do that coilover system. Everyone who has done that has always regretted it. It rides like crap when you do it.

I have a CL55 and no engine problems. I have replaced valve cover gaskets & 1 abc strut. I think my accumulators are about in need of replacing. But other than that it's been a great car. That is why I kept it & went & bought me an E63-S recently.

Please take it to Steve Richards to get him to do a trade-in appraisal on it - yes we love this car and it is exactly the type of car we want to buy ..

Air Suspension is a wonderful thing. BUT not even the mighty Toyota Corporation can get it to work reliably. If the Japanese can't make it work, nobody can. Certainly NOT the germans who have spun off on some mad engineering for engineerings sake tangent. So it should be viewed as a new car novelty and not be expected to last much longer than a 3 year lease.

The ABC pump he mentions at 5:10 is definitely not going to cost $2,500. I have replaced the ABC tandem pump on a 2001 Mercedes CL500, which also functions as the power steering pump. Mine cost $450 for a rebuilt/refurbished ABC tandem pump, and I bought it on eBay from a shop in Florida. I did the work myself, and it took months to complete the work because I am not a Mercedes technician. Maybe the hours and a brand new pump combined could cost $2,500, but only if the dealership does the work. And rightfully so, fancy folks.
